PAM2PY: a Python tool for sharing ocean soundscape data

Ocean noise is an important component of the ocean soundscape. Due to vastness, performing accurate monitoring challenging and requires cooperation between institutions which, in most cases, use different equipment with characteristics. To ensure a valid comparison sound pressure level (SPL) outputs, careful calibration common standard absolute requirement. Throughout years several tools were developed that purpose as for example PAMGuide that: 1) allows adequate data 2) provides SPL estimation. PAM2PY emerged from idea effective acoustic sharing could only succeed if: details private, context information packed together 3) transformation raw was supported by open source code running platforms. This paper describes utilization typical exchange request permitted share three hydrophones located near Faial Pico islands Azores recorded during month June 2018.
